That's the thing though, I feel that if you have to have your game rely on a third party system like achievements to make players play your game more, then you've failed at designing a game with replay value. If anything that I've noticed nowadays and especially with 360 games in particular, is that for whatever reason the concept of "Cheats" is a lost art. That right there, is your replay value. I think if there was something in it for the players with the current system now, maybe I could see something going out of the way to get the "little rocket man" achievement for example instead of just getting it for bragging rights. That way, you know you'll at least get something in return like a cheat code or unlocking something as a reward instead of nothing which is what Gamerscore represents in my eyes.

Also, I didn't want to derail that thread anymore than where it was already going.

Also also, thanks for commenting back. I really appreciate it. Wasn't sure if you knew about the site or not.

Wow.. If you had THAT much of a problem with what I said, then why didnt you say it in that thread?

Anyway, you still havent disproven how I said properly placed achievements can add to the value and fun of a game. When I am talking about adding to the game Im not talking "get 100,000 kills" Im talking about stuff that makes you think outside the box, like the "little rocket man" achievement in the Orange Box. Or the fact that most games have an achievement for beating the game at the hardest difficulty. That adds to the game because many times I would never replay that same game, especially on the harder settings.

Yes you are right about letting achievements rule your gaming, if you do that your esentually defeating your own purpose.

It was pretty bad. Dennis Miller at least spotted what was going on and quickly adjusted. Wasn't too bad as Spoony made some parts out to be, but yeah, it was atrocious.

If you give me a little time here. I'll post me and NPNG's podcast on here so that I'm not always blatantly plugging myself on the forums.
