Sunday, May 30th, 2010

*Special Edition* – Vinny Truncelito stops by to have a conversation with Mister Payne about perils of the pro wrestling industry today. What has caused interest and popularity to take a turn for the worse? Do we blame MMA? Vince McMahon? DVR? Too many cable channels? Payne and Vinny try to sort it all out and have a few laughs along the way.

The regular show will be posted as always this Wednesday with xSmootx and Payne.

WWE Over the Limit 2010 Predictions

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

Okay seeing how we sorta forgot to cover the Over the Limit card on 5 Corners this past week, I figure I’d make it up to you as I go down to list in detail to see what I think will happen. So without further ado…:

R-Truth vs Ted Dibiase – Dibiase has been looking for a Virgil, which I’m really starting to think is a sugar coated way of saying slave, to do dirty work for Dibiase. Richie Rich here has gone so far that he’s even acquired the original Virgil to be in his corner (who looked really out of place by the way). With Ted, his little rinky dink belt of his, Virgil possibly interfering, and a stable formation later down the road…the deck is heavily stacked against R-Truth in this. Going with Dibiase with a pinfall

Eve vs Maryse for the Divas Title – Clearly the snack break match here, Eve has had the title for quite some time but her generic armbar is quite possibly no match Maryse’s generic DDT. It’s a toss up either way here, they could keep it on Eve for awhile or they could give it right back to Maryse which makes it hard to pick. I’ll go with Maryse with a win via pinfall.

Hart Dynasty vs JeriMiz for the Tag Team Championship – Seems like Jericho and Miz have been getting shitted on here as of late, especially Miz who got absolutely buried by Bret Hart, a man who is somehow still involved with wrestling in the year 2010 and after suffering a debilitating stroke…think about that for a moment to let that sink in. Anyway, the Hart Dynasty has been on fire here as of late and hell if Uncle Bret can get a title in his condition, why not them as well?

Orton vs Edge – I said on the show that with these two guys being tweeners, it makes me not really care about them. Now that it’s established that Edge is a heel and Randy Orton is well….a person who doesn’t like celebrities, I still don’t really care about this match because they’re making Orton into the next Rattlesnake, hell Cole’s always screaming about how he’s The Viper. Which that alone just leaves a sour taste in my mouth and not only that makes me not care about this match one iota. Randy has been on quite a streak here but I think I’ll go with Edge just because I think this feud will continue on into Summerslam

Mysterio vs Punk – Induction vs Hair – Both stips here have been teased before. One before mania, the other at mania. Who knew that was just a diversion to have a stip vs stip match at a generic Pay Per View!? I think it’s quite abundant that we’re going to be seeing a bald CM Punk. Though if Rey some how loses, I think he might have to ditch the mask in the SES. Again, picking Rey to win here

Drew McIntyre vs Kofi for the IC title – McIntyre has been boss here lately, at least over on Smackdown. First beating up on Matt Hardy, (not that impressive seeing how practically anybody can do that, even Hornswoggle) but having the boss of the company giving him major support. As much as the IC division has been hot here lately, hopefully we can see more of that here but with McIntyre walking out retaining the belt

Jack Swagger vs Big Show for the WHC – Think about this one for a second…not counting outside of the WWE or counting the WWECW belt, when’s the last time Big Show actually had a decent chance at a major belt? With that and as shitty as they’re making Jack Swagger out to be a chicken shit champion, he’ll come out of this one as the All American American champion. That, and with Swagger being the underdog here, he’s getting lessons from John Cena’s How to Bullshit Your Way Into a Title Reign. Which speaking of…

John Cena vs Batista in an I Quit Match for the WWE Title – The main event of the night here. I can’t say exactly what the hell we’ll see. The Duct Tape finish opened the door to all sorts of possible adolescent hijinks. Maybe somebody caught in a giant claw machine, Assautling someone with paintballs, Heck maybe Cena will get Batista stuck on one of those giant velcrow walls that were a hit in the early 90′s. Either way, with Batista pussyfooting around if he wants to stick with the company or not I doubt WWE will keep throwing the strap onto Batista just because he’s unhappy and indecisive. Going with Cena to win via some sort of dumbshit contraption or an STF.

Mister Payne and I will have complete coverage from Over the Limit this week on 5 Corners. Also, Over the Limit is This Sunday, May 23rd. The same date Owen Hart died at 11 years ago in the Kemper Arena at the Pay-Per-View Over the Edge. While it’s quite eerie and as much as it would open a door to a new running gag for me, let us hope nothing catastrophic happens here. Besides I don’t think Cole nor Striker could do traumatic death filler quite the way JR handled it.

Episode 19 of 5 Corners

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

With a distinct lack of TNA to make fun of talk about with Impact on Thursdays now and us stuck in between the transition, we had to change things around.

However we do talk TNA and some other things like:

-Debate if Vickie Guerrero has legit or cheap heat and does she need to be the GM on a WWE Show

-How TNA patronizes the fans by being overly cartoony and how Matt Morgan does not think so.

-What happened to all the wrestling fans and how reshaping today’s product from both companies could try to get them to watch again.

All that and more in this rapid fire edition of 5 Corners:

In Regards to 5 Corners Episode 17 & 18

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

Episode 17: Two weeks ago I mentioned how CenGruber was the guest host for RAW. I made a little parody of the MacGruber bit only with John Cena thrown in. I posted it on the TSE and WGW boards but never here on the site like I intended to when I posted the show. Well here it is (Images open in a new window):

Has to win championship matches out of household materials

He wins all the time by no-selling everything

Why’s this guy a champion!?

————————————————————————

Episode 18: Recently, I mentioned how Darren Young looks like blackface’d John Cena. Here’s a side by side picture to compare and be the judge for yourself. If Young starts no selling people and has no moves, I think we might have to hit the panic button (Image opens in a new window):

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

Sorry for me being late to the party with this here, been extremely busy helping out a friend moving. Nonetheless, better late than never. This week me and Payne sit down and discuss:

-An absolute dismal RAW
-TNA’s plan on dominating Monday Nights failing.
-Bret Hart’s Future, Lex Luger TNA possibility, and how NXT rookie Darren Young looks like a black John Cena.

All this and stuff outside of wrestling including Pat Sajak ousted on Celebrity Jeopardy on this edition of 5 Corners
